History

Based in Surrey, British Columbia, 1001 Steps Theatre Society is an independent, non-profit collective offering performers and creative individuals the opportunity to develop and present compelling drama.

Unofficially 'formed' in 2015, 1001 Steps began as a collaboration between Fred Ribkoff, a professor of English and Interdisciplinary Expressive Arts (IDEA) at Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and John Rowell, one of his undergraduate students at the time, who later completed his M.A. in English at Simon Fraser University and now teaches English at Columbia College. 1001 Steps has staged three shows—Jag and the American, Shylock on Blocks, and The Training of the Shrew—involving cast and crew from all over the metro Vancouver, B.C. area.
